The Man With The Golden Ring

During the history of cinematograph, screenwriters have depicted the young days of such well-known fiction characters as Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones. The creators of The Man With the Golden Ring have made a step further, dealing with an episode from the adolescent life of the child, not the parent.

Indeed, one can hardly be surprised by the fact that the British secret agent and great womanizer James Bond, who travels on duty all over the world, has an offspring living in a remote country. The boy's name is James Bond Jr., and his mother is a Japanese amah called Kissy Mitsubishi, whom 007 met in Ian F. Lemming's You Only Drink Twice.

As the story begins, young James, who lives together with his mother in Japan, on Chinko Island, gets mixed up in a dangerous game of espionage when a seriously injured stranger turns up at the door of their house. The man happens to be none other than his father's colleague - 008, on a secret mission: to intercept a stolen microchip (disguised as a golden ring) for controlling a new top-secret weapon of mass destruction code-named GoldenRing. After retrieving the chip from an enemy courier, 008 has run into an ambush and, while fleeing away, got a bullet in his back. And now, the agent being temporary out of action, James Bond Jr. is the only hope. So, 008 gives him the ring and asks the boy to get to England and pass it to his father - 007.

Without thinking twice, James sets out and boards the first available flight to London. However, the lieutenants of the man responsible for the thievery - the international terrorist Mr. Sorayama - are at his heels, hijacking the plane. The pilot's refusal to cooperate leads to a shootout, which entails depressurization of the cabin, and as a result of it, the craft crashes in the very heart of taiga, in the USSR.

By sheer luck, James Bond Jr. stays alive, but he is faced with quite a difficult task: to survive the hostile environment and get out of the foreign country unscathed. It's no easy, since the Soviet elite troops with killer dogs are already on his tail, as well as a bunch of hard-boiled criminals hired by Mr. Sorayama, with every single square inch of the terrain being scanned by the satellites. However, every cloud has a silver lining, and the boy is approached by the head of Siberian separatists called Paramon, who is willing to oblige MI6 and help him out.

Their thorny path runs through the dense Siberian forests and high Uralian mountains and boundless steppes and tumultuous rivers. And hardly would they have negotiated all the hardships, if it were not for several people joining them along the way, as follows: a freelance hitman Titomir willing to get enlisted for SIS; a young hunter Legoless, who dreams of moving from taiga to the stone jungle of New York City; and a miner Girin, who is literally fed up with coal dust. Apart from this company, James Bond Jr. is being supported by the head of Cossacks called Ataman Gendelko, who is not happy with the Soviet regime, and a girl Gala Drill - a remote descendant from the regal Romanovs, hoping Britain will assist her in re-establishing monarchy in Russia.

When helping James Bond Jr. - the Man with the Golden Ring - on his mission to bring the microchip back to London, each of them purposes their own selfish aim, but together they are unstoppable.
